Christian Bautista said it is an honor for him to be among the Board Members of OPM or Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit, together with veteran singers like Jose Mari Chan, Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, Noel Cabangon, Dingdong Avanzado, and Mitch Valdez. Being the youngest member of the OPM board, Christian intends to be the “bridge” between the younger and the older generation of the OPM (Original Pinoy Music) industry. “I’m very honored at very pressured din [kasi] malaking responsibility ito. Sabi ko nga I will be the link ng mga younger generation to the other generations, baka ‘yung iba hindi pa masyadong kilala ‘yung ibang board din. Puwedeng lumapit sa akin para mas madaling makapag-usap.”
Christian explained that the representatives are scheduled to meet this week to assign their positions on the board whose main objective is to revive the dying local music industry.
When he was offered the position, Christian admitted that he initially had doubts but then realized how much he could contribution to help the music industry. “It’s not an easy job but I’m up to the task. Na-challenge ako sa sarili ko na bata ako meron akong mako-contribute and I believe na mas magkakaroon ng voice ‘yung ibang singers or banda para magkaroon talaga ng united OPM.”
The singer is also confident that his hectic schedule and number of shows abroad won’t prevent him from doing his job properly and cited that modern technology can easily make communication easier and faster. “Lahat naman may out-of-the country [shows] pero mas posible na [to communicate] in this generation may Internet, may Skype, on the web pwede kayong mag-usap,” he assured.
