The 18-year-old Filipino singer is looking forward to play Lea Michele's rival on Glee Season 2.
After much speculation, international singing sensation Charice finally announced via her Twitter account that she will be part of the popular American musical/ TV series Glee on its second season beginning this August. “It's official. I am on Glee. When the rumor came out, it wasn't true. But then after that, I tried to audition and I made it. Let's party,” said the Filipino singer who accomplished yet another milestone in the Hollywood scene. Her U.S. manager Marc Johnston also confirmed the news and revealed that she will be playing the role of “a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals” would pit her against one of the show’s lead stars, Lea Michele.
Although a lot of her fans were very happy with her latest achievement, some people were wondering why Charice previously denied the rumors about her acting stint when it turned out to be true after all. But in an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com, her mom Raquel Pempengco reacted on the criticisms surrounding their contradicting statements to press in the past few weeks. She maintained that they really had no idea about it until the casting people of Glee asked Charice to audition for the show recently. “Pinatawag si Charice at pinag-audition kasi biglang dami ng news sa Hollywood tungkol kay Charice na sasama sa Glee. Natuwa naman sa kanya at sinabing magaling siyang kumanta,” said Raquel.
In the meantime, Charice is about to finish the European leg for the promotion of her self-title album which includes her hit single “Pyramid”. She will be back in the Philippines in time for the inauguration of President-elect Noynoy Aquino where she is set to sing the national anthem on June 30.
