Xian Lim remains optimistic about his showbiz career

Although his showbiz career slowed down after his stint in Katorse, Xian Lim remained optimistic, especially now that he’s part of Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla Sr. Presents Elias Paniki where he plays one of Jake Cuenca’s cohorts. Aside from having Kelly Misa as his love interest in the story, the young actor shared that he’s also looking forward to doing action scenes for the first time. “Challenging yung project dahil hindi lang basta aarte ako kundi nag-undergo talaga kami ng physical training. When I was a kid nagta-taekwondo na ako e. Pero iba pa rin yung experience na mag-aral ng mixed martial arts, Muay Thai na may wrestling involved. ‘Yan ang mga exciting na parts.”

His former co-stars Ejay Falcon and Enchong Dee were both given lead roles in two different Agimat installments. When asked if he felt bad about not being included in the new set of Agimat boys, Xian pointed out that he will get his big break in due time. “Hindi naman kasi ako nagmamadali. Hindi naman ako mamatay next month. Everyone has their own time. Ejay's time has come, Enchong's time has come. My time will come din,” he stated. “Okay lang naman sa akin na [hindi nag-work out yung dati] as long as tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho. Ako naman serious at focused naman ako sa trabaho ever since.”

Xian was also proud to say that he had been busy shooting his first indie film, Two Funerals, these past few months. The film is a dark comedy, which revolves around a grieving mother (Tessie Tomas) who goes in search of her missing daughter’s (Princess Manzon) body. Xian plays the role of Princess’s fiancé. “It was really successful. Hindi ko makakalimutan yung experience na mag-location change from Lucban, Quezon to Bicol. Grabe, pero it was really worth it.” Xian also believes that his indie film stint helped improve his acting skills. “Oo kasi bukod sa award-winning director namin na si Gil Portes, kasama ko pa si Tita Tessie na talagang tutok ang acting. Malaking pasasalamat ko kay Tita Tessie kasi ang daming approach niyang tinuro sa akin kung paano aatakihin yung iba-ibang eksena.

Catch Xian Lim in Agimat: Ang Mga Alamat ni Ramon Revilla Sr. Presents Elias Paniki coming soon on ABS-CBN. Two Funerals will be shown during the Cinemalaya Festival in July.
