MMFF Best Actress Ai-Ai De las Alas wants to work with Dolphy

After Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na 'lsquo; To won the much-coveted Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress awards in the recently held 36th Metro Manila Film Festival, Ai-Ai De las Alas is on a definite high. Opening day results also prove that the film is a winner at the box office as well with the movie reportedly making over P20 million on Christmas day. Definitely a fitting achievement for the third and last installment to the Tanging Ina series.

After the first two Tanging Ina movies, Ai-Ai said that she was finally ready to move on then to new projects and was not even expecting to win the Best Actress award even though she admits she had been hoping for it in 2008 for Ang Tanging Ina N'rsquo;yong Lahat. "Hindi ko na ini-expect na manalo ang Tanging Ina kasi sanay ako dati 'lsquo;di ba? Sabi ko kay bespren 'lsquo;Sabi mo asa ako, ngayon nanalo ako!'rsquo; (laughs). Nung nanalo ako, sabi sakin ni Kris (Aquino), 'lsquo;I love you friendship!'rsquo; she shared, referring to her conversation with Kris Aquino before the awards night show began.

After the MMFF awards show, some of Ai-Ai'rsquo;s first well-wishers were ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio. "Sabi niya, 'lsquo;I knew it. Well-deserved talaga. What a way to end the year!'rsquo;" she said. Star Cinema'rsquo;s Malou Santos was also happy for her. "Tita Malou said, 'lsquo;More Movies in 2011!'rsquo; Sabi ko, 'lsquo;Dyoskopo Tita Malou, hindi ko na kaya yung stress.'rsquo;" she laughed. The comedienne also shared that she also received a personal message of congratulations from Vilma Santos, who was not able to attend the event. Governor Vi was one of the first people she called after her Best Actress win.

Despite the success of the film, Ai-Ai said she is not interested in making another Tanging Ina sequel. "Gusto ko last na 'lsquo;to, iba naman. Or maybe a prequel ng Tanging Ina. Kung bakit naging Tanging Ina siya, bakit ganito, anong nangyari, bakit siya pinamigay. Pinamigay kasi ako dun sa storya nung 15 years old ako. Kaya napangasawa ko si Edu (Manzano), mayaman sila kaya binigay ako ng nanay ko. Puwede prequel pero hindi yung continuation," she firmly said. When prodded by the press if she is now looking towards a possible grand slam win, the talented actress admits she is hopeful. "Puwede, bakit naman hindi, 'lsquo;di ba? Sa tulong ninyo. (laughs). Joke lang," she said with a smile.

Ai-Ai also showed high respect for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awardee Dolphy and even admitted that she and director Wenn Deramas have already made plans to watch his film Father Jejemon within the week. "Tama lang na manalo si Dolphy, tama lang na siya ang Best Supporting [actor], siya rin ang Best Actor, siya lahat. Tama, tama yun," she stressed. Tanging Ina director Wenn Deramas had already shared with the press that he was already working on a storyline for a possible movie project starring Ai-Ai and Dolphy. "Oo sana talaga makasama ko man lang si Tito Dolphy. Gusto ko yun," she admitted. The Comedy Queen shared that she also has two other movie projects already lined up for
