When he first joined the Tanging Ina cast in original 2003 film, actor-enterpreneur Marvin Agustin had no idea it would break box office records that year. Now, he has reprised his role as Ai-Ai De las Alas’s firstborn Juan Montecillo in the third and last installment of the film series called Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To, which is also one of Star Cinema’s three Metro Manila Film Festival entries for the year (alongside Dalaw and RPG Metanoia). The actor, who has also been appearing outside the Kapamilya network, admits it was a welcome experience for him to be invited back as part of the original cast. “Okay naman yung cast, masaya, makukulit pa rin. Wala masyado nagbago. Ganun pa rin. Ganun pa rin yung bonding namin, yung saya namin sa set. Yung kulitan namin ganun pa rin naman kami,” he said.
Marvin also said he got excited when he found out that he was going to be in another Tanging Ina movie. “Kasi sobrang overwhelming yung experience every time na makakatrabaho ko si Direk Wenn at si Mama Ai. Sobrang saya namin lagi,” he told Push.com.ph during the Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To movie premiere last December 20 at SM Megamall.
The 31-year-old actor admitted that even though he may not be in an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN, he will always be open to working with the Kapamilya network, especially for Star Cinema. “Oo naman, okay sa akin yun. Sana mabigyan ako ng chance ulit,” he said.
Marvin admitted he is also close friends with some of his Tanging Ina “siblings” “Oo naman close kami lahat. Minsan umaalis kami nila Alwyn (Uytingco), sila Serena (Dalrymple) at Shaina (Magdayao). ‘Pag nagkakayayaan, lumalabas kami,” he shared. Out of Ai-Ai’s 12 children in the movie, only Heart Evangelista, who plays Ai-Ai’s fourth child, was not able to make an appearance in the film, but Marvin said there is no issue there as Heart had already apologized for not being able to participate in the Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To. “May pinadalang letter si Heart kay Mama Ai na nag-so-sorry naman ata,” he offered.
The actor then extended an invite to all Tanging Ina fans to catch the film during this holiday season. “Sa December 25, sabay-sabay ulit tayong umiyak at tumawa, panuorin niyo Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na ‘To,” he said.
