Bea Saw says she now enjoys acting more than hosting

This month former Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 Big winner Beatriz Saw returns to the big screen as part of the cast of the upcoming Star Cinema romantic comedy My Amnesia Girl, which also stars Toni Gonzaga and John Lloyd Cruz. Bea, as she is popularly know, plays the role of Peachy, close friend and business partner to Toni’s character Irene. “Sa movie, ako yung nag-encourage sa kanya na mag-put up ng photo studio business. So may bahay ako at inaya ko si Toni na sumama sa akin. So magkasama kami sa bahay then at the same time we work together sa studio hanggang sa makilala ko na yung nasa past niya kasi for some reason, habang friends kami, hindi ako familiar kung ano talaga yung nangyari sa kanya hanggang sa nagkaroon ng incident na nalaman ko na ang lahat. Ako yung nagpupush sa kanya na i-face yung problems niya with Apollo, John Lloyd’s character,” she shares during ABS-CBN.com’s set visit to My Amnesia Girl last November 4. Although when she entered showbiz, she had initially preferred to become a host more than an actress, Bea shares that her being cast in her first movie project One More Chance was the reason why she changed her mind about acting. “More of hosting talaga yung napag-usapan, but nung time na nabigay sa akin yung One More Chance, dun ko na-realize yung ibang field or yung ibang side ng showbiz na ang saya. Oo, nakapagod yung tapings pero iba yung matututunan mo din eh na hindi mo makukuha sa hosting. Pero iba din yung hosting compared to acting. Iba yung attack. Iba yung hosting kasi yung character ako yun eh. Pero ito, I get to play somebody that I’m not. And for that sobrang liberating yun para sa akin. Nakakatuwa. So ako ngayon ini-enjoy ko ito lahat-lahat. Tumatanggap pa rin ako ng mga hosting jobs pero kung may ganito, hindi ko ito tataggihan kasi hindi lahat may opportunity ng katulad ng ganito,” she says.  Bea says she couldn’t believe her luck after getting a part in another Cathy Garcia-Molina film. “I was super happy. Kasi after One More Chance, sobrang I couldn’t wait na makatrabaho ulit si Direk Cathy so nung nalaman ko na ang mga kasama ko pa dito si John Lloyd at si Ate Toni, sobrang parang wow, blessing in disguise kasi sabi ko ang gandang gumawa ng pelikula lalo na pag alam mo yung kuwento tapos yung character ko pa sobrang ganda kasi in a way, para siyang ako na hindi. Ako kasi, as a friend, kunsintidor ako. Mahilig ako na go lang ng go to my friends. Lagi ko sila ini-encourage na i-try mo lang, malay natin diba? Pero hindi ako si Peachy as in talagang ipu-push niya yung friend niya sa limits. Ako kasi parang kumabaga ayoko kay Apollo pero at the same time hinahayaan ko si Irene na okay lang, sige harapin mo siya,” she explains. Although she had already worked on past projects with both of the movie’s lead stars, Bea says she is thankful to learn from them while doing My Amnesia Girl. ”Kapag may pinapagawa si Direk Cathy na parang para sa akin awkward, si Ate Toni mismo, tuturuan niya ako ng technique.
