Richard Poon says he wont try acting

For Richard Poon, singing standards means more than just doing what he does best: it also means bringing enjoyment to the older members of his audience. "I want to bring it back for them to enjoy the memories. Kasi bumabalik 'lsquo;yung mga memories 'lsquo;pag kinakanta mo 'lsquo;yun, eh naririnig nila natutuwa sila," said Richard.

Richard will be having a major concert on November 12 at the PICC Plenary hall entitled Richard The Crooner which will feature guests Sam Milby, Pokwang, and Lea Salonga. "First time to have Lea guest in my show. World-class siya so ako parang kinakabahan ako pero I'rsquo;m going to try to do my best to level up to where she is," said Richard.

With many of his singer-friends now crossing over to acting like Christian Bautista, Erik Santos, and Mark Bautista, Push.com.ph asked Richard if he is also willing to try his luck in acting. "I want to admit to everybody [that] I suck at acting," he said before he laughed.

He explained further that one should find out what his gifts are and hone them. "Dati nagluluto ako sa restaurant I realized that music was my strongest gift. Ako I just have a philosophy na whatever you'rsquo;re good at, stay there and try to nurture it para mag-blossom ka lalo.

"Siguro kung magti-taping ako or act, I'rsquo;d probably say no and just siguro lock myself in the room and make siguro a song for Erik Santos or make an arrangement for Christian Bautista kasi nakakatulong ako sa ganun, eh. Parang feeling ko mas happy ako to be behind the limelight kasi nagpo-produce din ako ng songs, so dun na lang. Baka ma-depress ata ako 'lsquo;pag pinanood ko ang sarili ko."
