Gerald Anderson considers Kim Chiu as a big part of his development as an actor.
Gerald Anderson now feels validated as an actor after bagging his first acting trophy courtesy of the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Television. At the ceremony held last November 13, Gerald was hailed as Best Actor for a Single Performance for an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya wherein he played a person stricken with Tourette'rsquo;s Syndrome.
Proudly holding his trophy, Gerald told Push.com.ph and other reporters how overjoyed he is that his four years of hard work in showbiz has now paid off. "This is my first acting award. Dati nasa PBB (Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition) lang ako. Hindi ko inakala na mangyayari sa akin ito. But I worked so hard."
He said that other showbiz newcomers, notably those who also came from PBB, can also achieve their dreams if they will work very hard. "Nakita ko kanina sina Melai (Cantiveros) at 'lsquo;yung mga bagong PBB housemates. Sana kahit papaano na-inspire ko sila to work hard din. Hindi malabong maabot ang pangarap."
Gerald added that he considers the award as a reward after going through controversies this year, including death threats from fans angered by his alleged secret affair with Bea Alonzo and accusations that his luxury vehicle is actually a stolen car. "Alam naman ng lahat na marami akong pinagdaanan this year. It's been a rollercoaster ride. This is just the best thing that has happened to me this year." The 21-year-old heartthrob shared that his lawyer and Star Magic are already sorting out the issue with his "hot car," but he still refused to comment about Bea.
Instead, Gerald dedicated his first acting award to his ka-love team of four years Kim Chiu. Gerald and Kim starred in a string of hit teleseryes and movies, the latest of which is Till My Heartaches End. "Malaking bagay si Kim for my career. I wouldn't be here kung hindi niya ako sinuportahan at tinulungan at inalalayan. Ang laki po ng itinulong sa akin ni Kim'mdash;personally and professionally."
