Enchong Dee just wants to focus on his career more than his personal life

With the premiere of the movie I Do, Enchong Dee and his on-screen partner Erich Gonzales are now certified movie stars. Aside from being a national athlete for the Philippine swimming team, Ernesto “Enchong” Lorenzo Dee is also part of the cast of the hit teleserye Magkaribal on Primetime Bida and an image model for a popular clothing line. Even with a packed schedule, Enchong says he doesn’t mind the pace because oft the positive environment at work. “When I’m doing Magkaribal, it’s really hectic kasi we’re hand-to-mouth everyday with the script and so everyone’s rushing. Puyat lahat. But since masaya naman sa set, enjoy lang din kami. Kumbaga deadma na lang sa pagod,” he shared. Later this year, the chinito actor hopes to enjoy a much-needed vacation with his family and relatives who are abroad. “Sa ngayon, I’ve set aside muna yung time ko para sa sarili ko. After Magkaribal and doing the movie, I’ll have a three months vacation so I’m also looking forward to that. I’m going to go out of the country malamang during the holidays, sa Christmas. Planning a trip to Sydney, Australia with my entire family and I’m excited about that,” he says.

In I Do, in which he and Erich are given their first lead roles in a movie, they share many romantic scenes which makes it hard to deny the natural chemistry between the two. But Enchong is quick to dispel any notions that their love team has already blossomed into the real thing. “Siguro our team-up wouldn’t be as successful kung inuna muna namin yung kung ano mang nararamdaman naming bago yung trabaho namin. Kasi sa ngayon talaga, every time na nakikita namin ang media, ang lagi namin sinasabi na ang priority talaga namin is yung trabaho namin. Sabi nga dun sa pelikula, magpapakasal lang kayo sa isang tao pag siguradong mahal niyo ang isa’t isa,” he explained.

Enchong admitted that even though he has yet to come to a stage where he has found someone he wants to marry, he knows the seriousness behind the decision. “With marriage, you have to think twice, thrice or even more than ten times kung gusto niyo ba talaga gawin yun, handa na ba kayo and sigurado na ba kayo sa pinili niyong tao. I think it has to be a mature decision. Kailangan ready ka na dapat talaga ako to make that kind of commitment when I decide to do something like that,” he says. In I Do, he shared that the story was based on real people, which is why the audience will be able to relate to their characters. “True-to-life story naman talaga ito which means it can happen in real life kahit kanino, so parang lesson rin ito na kung gusto mo talaga magpakasal, make sure na mahal mo yung tao at hindi dahil sa ano pang dahilan,” he added.
