Speedy G says she is unique from other fast-talkers

Speedy G (Gazelle Canlas in real life) is grateful to ABS-CBN for her biggest break yet: being one of the female hosts of Pilipinas Win na Win. “Nagkaroon sa akin ng confidence sina FMG (Freddie M. Garcia, former ABS-CBN president) at Ms. Linggit (Tan, ABS-CBN TV head of production) na bigyan ako ng opportunity na i-showcase ‘yung spiel ko,” she explained. The newbie shared that she feels privileged to work with talented female hosts such as Pokwang, Janelle Jamer, and Valerie Concepcion. “Para masama ka sa ganong ranggo, tapos masama ka sa ganitong show [is really a privilege],” she said.

Before Pilipinas Win na Win, Speedy G has been co-hosting Music Uplate, which she said prepared her and gave her confidence to accept the offer to be on the noontime show. “Maganda ‘yung chemistry ko with my fellow Music Uplate hosts kaya nadadala sa Win na Win.

Speedy G related that she started her showbiz inclinations with a series of videos with a friend which was posted on YouTube. She then became a member of an impromptu group headed by Teddy Corpuz, lead vocalist of the band Rocksteddy. “Dun nila na-discover na mabilis akong magsalita but I’ve been talking like this since I was a kid. Pero dun ko lang na-realize na may content pala siya. ‘Pag tinimingan mo ako ng one minute, kung ano-ano na ang pwede kong masabi.” She said that many people can also talk fast, but the difference is that she does not follow any script. “A lot of people do it na kabisado, ako kahit ano. Ang saya kasi word vomit siya tapos may form, a lot of people say pwede raw rapping. Pwedeng katapat ni Gloc 9 (rapper).”
