Megan Young says 2009 took her career to greater heights

2009 was a good year for Megan Young, landing the role as Marcella in I Love Betty La Fea and a her short stint as co-host for Us Girls eventually leading her to Channel V Philippines as a VJ. On a personal level, Megan said that she has transformed into a full-fledged grown-up this year. “It’s my woman year, and I can say this is the year na nag-build up sa akin to be more mature and more ladylike, kasi kahit na may pagka-childlike, I have to learn to grow up because I’m not going to be a kid forever,” the 19-year-old morena beauty said. “I’m just savoring my moment. You grow up and you need to be more mature.”

Megan admitted that she could not believe that so many good things happened to her career. She related how grateful she was that her acting got noticed in I Love Betty La Fea, that she was able to showcase her hosting skills when she covered for Chesca Garcia on US Girls for five months, and that she earned a VJ spot for Channel V Philippines. “First VJ job ko siya,” she beamed. “It’s kind of like our own MYX Channel or MTV and I’m excited kasi it’s international, hindi lang sa Philippines so really excited.”

She related that during auditions, she was so nervous because the big bosses of Channel V in Hong Kong were the ones who were doing the judging. “Na-pressure ako and I’m really glad to be part of it and now I’m doing events and doing a lot of music stuff,” she said excitedly.

Megan is also part of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Shake, Rattle and Roll 11, her first horror film. “It’s really fun. Most probably I won’t get to experience that again but it’s really fun for me and out of this world,” she shared.

Asked which she thinks is more difficult between doing drama and horror, the actress-host-VJ replied it was the former. “Kasi mahirap makakuha ng loob ng tao… for it to be actually real. Kasi ‘yung takutan nadadaan na rin sa effect sa makeup, but for me hard talaga ang pagpapaiyak wala pa yata akong napapaiyak puro napapatawa o natatakot sila sa akin,” she said with a laugh.
