Pokwang says Working Mom's Balance Award for Triumph Over Tragedy is the most special award she has ever received.
Pokwang received a Working Mom Magazine’s Balance Award for the Triumph Over Tragedy category last night at the Rockwell tent. She is recognized by the said magazine because of Pokwang’s inspiring story life story. From rags to riches, Working Mom Editor-in-Chief Dedet Panabi said that they have chosen to give the award to Pokwang because she serves as an inspiration to all the mothers who are going through same hardships but still managed to excel in their respective careers. "When we read Pokwang's story, when her profile was given to us among others who submitted, most of us started crying because we never knew she has a sad life. She's a comedienne and she's always making people happy and yet she went through all of this (sufferings) but she didn't give up. She didn't lose her sense of humor, never stopped wanting to make other people happy and I think the reason why we gave her an award is that I'm sure there's no one in this room who has not gone through any tragedy and what Pokwang reminds us is that there's always a reason to laugh, there's always an opportunity to make others laugh and the real triumph here is the human spirit that nothing can bring a good mother down."
Pokwang was very emotional when she went up the stage to receive her award. According to the Wowowee host, this is the most special award she has received in her entire life. "Thank you very much.
And even though there was some seriousness in her speech, she still couldn’t help make people laugh with a funny remark or two.
Pokwang then told ABS-CBN.com in an interview that she puts balance in her life by setting her priorities. Her family and her daughter are on top of the list. She shares that she is blessed to have a daughter who understands the nature of her work. "
