Claudine Barretto says she will always be a part of Star Magic

For the first time since her controversial contract signing with Viva Films, Claudine Barretto answered questions from ABS-CBN reporters regarding her rumored rift with Star Magic. She was quick to clarify that her decision to explore other career opportunities doesn’t mean she had to cut her ties with ABS-CBN’s talent arm which has been her second family all these years. “Wala pang Star Magic nandito na ako sa Star Magic (formerly known as Talent Center). So you know, whatever happens sa buhay namin hinding-hindi mawawala yung part ako ng Star Magic. So asahan ninyo na sa mga catalog, sa mga world concert tour at kung anu-ano pa, nandudun ako,” she exclaimed.

There were speculations about her wanting to quit Star Magic since she hasn’t been working on any project for a year already. The rumors further escalated when she didn’t join the Magic for A Cause fashion show last October. So it came as a surprise that she agreed to be a part of Star Magic’s benefit concert last November 13 at the Araneta Coliseum. Claudine shared that she was really happy that she did a duet with her former leading man Piolo Pascual. “Of course, sobra kong na-miss magperform with him. Kinakabahan ako. Pero siyempre naisiip ko ulit yung Milan days namin (where Claudine and Piolo sang ‘The Gift’ for the Original Soundtrack) so nakakatuwa. Someday soon [sana magkatrabaho kami ulit sa isang movie],” she gushed.

Claudine also admitted that she also missed being with Piolo and other fellow Star Magic artists like Diether Ocampo, Bea Alonzo, and Angelica Panganiban. “Nakakamiss talaga pero ang maganda naman sa amin we keep in touch.” And to prove that there’s really no bad blood between her and Star Magic, she even thanked its head Johnny Manahan for putting up such a great show and even kissed him goodbye before leaving Araneta that night. “Seventeen years na ang Star Magic at maraming-maraming salamat dahil kundi sa suporta ng mga tao sa bawat artista ng Star Magic, hindi kami tatagal ng ganito. At siyempre sa lahat ng pagmamahal at pag-aalaga ni Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) at ni Tita Mariole Alberto at lahat ng handlers, staff, at road manager namin.

Claudine revealed that her proposed teleserye with sister Gretchen will not push through anymore. “Hindi na tuloy yun pero I am going to do a movie with Viva Films. By December magstart na kami. Secret pa kung sino ang leading man. Unfortunately, hindi ko pa makakasama si Anne (Curtis). Maraming projects ang pinagpilian, maraming mga storylines ang ibinigay ng Viva kaya medyo mahirap magdecision kung ano talaga yung unang magagawang pelikula. Excited na ako kasi last kong movie is Sukob e,” she stated.
