John Lloyd Cruz reveals his awkward but 'kilig' experience with Angel Locsin while shooting the music video of 'Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko.'
As early as now, fans are already excited about John Lloyd Cruz’s upcoming team-up with Angel Locsin, especially after seeing them together in ABS-CBN’s Christmas Station ID. ABS-CBN.com had the chance to talk to John Lloyd about it and he himself couldn’t deny the powerful chemistry that he had with Angel even in their short stint in front of the camera.
“It was a very awkward experience kasi at some point in the shot I was told na, ‘Akbayan mo, akbayan mo.’ ‘O, dapat medyo konting sweetness.’ And sabi ko nga, ‘Akbayan kita ha.’ [Nagpaalam pa ako] kasi first time naming nagkasama sa isang shot. Nakakapanibago pero sa magandang paraan,” said John Lloyd who’s simply thrilled to be working with someone as sweet and sincere as Angel. “Parang na-ano ako na, yun bang ibang babae ang tinitignan ko. Kasi for the last six or seven years kasama ko si Bea (Alonzo). Tapos gumawa kami ng dalawang pelikula ni Sarah (Geronimo), tapos ngayon iba naman.”
Despite the fact that Angel’s still fresh from her breakup with Luis Manzano, the multitalented actor stressed that his friendship with her ex wouldn’t be a problem at all. “Hindi naman. Kung may awkwardness man hindi yun dahil kay Luis. Yung awkwardness nanggagaling siya dun sa naninibago ako and siyempre panibagong simula with another girl. I’m very excited and very much looking forward sa mga projects na pagsasamahan namin ni Angel. Matagal na akong nakapila and finally it’s happening very soon.” When told that Luis had also expressed his support for their team-up, John Lloyd cheerfully replied, “Dapat lang kasi kung hindi makakatikim siya sa akin… ng yakap.”
Angel had previously admitted that she’s nervous and intimidated about being paired with a critically-acclaimed actor like John Lloyd. But the latter insisted that he merely wants them to enjoy working with each other. “Sabi ko nga sa kanya ‘wag siyang masyadong mag-expect. Kasi baka naman mamaya hindi ko masyado mameet yung expectations niya para sa akin. Basta magkatrabaho kami, I will give it my best all the time, 100%. And para sa akin, more than the work itself, yun bang magiging journey namin together as a new tandem, yun yung mas magmamatter sa akin in the future. Kasi sabi nga nila mawala man yun trabaho, pero yung pinagsamahan ninyo hindi na mawawala yun,” he remarked.
John Lloyd also congratulated Angel for being nominated for Best Actress in the International Emmy Awards for her extraordinary portrayal in the teleserye Lobo. “ I’m very happy for her kasi bihira yung maakaabot dun e. I wish her the best of luck. But with or without an Emmy Award, hindi yun kakulangan sa husay niya. Hindi yun ang magdedefine ng husay niya bilang artista. Para sa akin meron man o walang award, magaling pa rin siya,” he beamed.
