'Wowowee' remains Willie Revillame's top priority as he declares he will not enter politics next year.
After he returned from a month-long leave last September 21, Willie Revillame left people guessing as to whether or not he was running for election as Quezon City mayor or vice president, the later in tandem with Senator Manny Villar. It was only on November 10 that he finally gave his official announcement that he will not run for any position in the 2010 elections. Willie said that it will be hard for him to leave Wowowee as it is still his top priority. “Ang hirap kasing magsilbi ng hindi bukal sa loob mo, dapat ready ka na for that. Mata mo lang walang latay diyan eh, kapag politician hindi ka naman pwedeng magpatawa at any day.”
In a report by ABS-CBNNews.com, Willie gives credit to the King of Comedy Dolphy, whose words made a huge impact on his decision regarding politics."Tama si Tito Dolphy. Kapag nanalo ka, ano ang gagawin mo? Dapat ready ka na, ngayon pa lang nagpi-prepare ka na dahil kapag nanalo ka, dapat ito ang gagawin ko, dapat open na ako (na) ito ang pera ko, hanggang sa single cent mo, alam ng tao. Talagang serbisyo," Revillame explained.
Willie is not closing his doors on politics though, but for now the host wants devote his time to the Filipinos who support Wowowee. He believes that the show itself is a powerful vehicle to reach out to those in need, and in time, he will also let the people decide regarding the matter. “Mayroong time for that kung hindi man ngayon maybe someday, after ilang years, pakikiramdaman ko muna kung gusto talaga ng tao ako tumakbo,” Willie said.
