053113-gerald_main.jpgGerald Anderson just got back last Sunday, May 26, from France for the Cannes Film Festival. The actor went straight to Star Magic’s 21st anniversary celebration on ASAP right after he arrived. The actor was still euphoric when Push.com.ph caught up with him for an exclusive interview about his Cannes experience.

The OTJ (On the Job) actor shared how proud he was to represent the country in the acclaimed international movie fest. “Bilang Pinoy siyempre ang ganda para i-represent ‘yung bansa, hindi lang ‘yung movie eh. Sobrang proud ako kasi the movie did very well at maganda ‘yung feedback ng gawang Pinoy so you know, just to be a part of that, ‘yung experience na ‘yun, the best,” he remarked.

When asked about his first international red carpet experience, Gerald shared, “Yung movie kasi ng OTJ di siya yung sa competition eh, so wala kaming red carpet. It was for director’s part night. But kami ni Rayver (Cruz), nanood kami ng premier nong ibang movies kaya na-experience namin ‘yung red carpet, ang galing.”

He felt fortunate enough to be a part of the gathering of filmmakers from the different parts of the world. “Sobrang sarap ng feeling kasi you see all those people who are really passionate about film, ‘yung sobrang mahal nila ‘yung pagdating sa movies. Hindi lahat ng artista dito sa Pilipinas mai-experience ‘yun so I’m very blessed. Ang swerte ko,” he said.

The Pinoy Big Brother alum also shared how he became part of the movie, “About three years ago kinuwento sa akin ni PJ (Piolo Pascual), and then hindi natuloy. Ewan ko I never heard back. Then ‘yun nga last year, pinitch sa akin and we did the movie.”

Does he consider his Cannes experience as the highlight of his career at this point? “Of course. I’m more excited of the things na natutunan ko,” he stated.

Now that he’s back in the Philippines, Gerald is ecstatic to go back to work.  “I’m excited to act again, to work again, kasi mas malalim yung inspirasyon,” he remarked.

The actor relayed how happy he was to make it in time for Star Magic’s 21st anniversary celebration. “Dito mo lang makikita eh ng mga ganitong okasyon na ang dami namin pero we’re a one big family. Alam mo yun, we’re always here for each other kahit anong mangyari,” he said.
