022613-jodirichard_main.jpgJodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap, the lead stars of the top-rating teleserye Be Careful With My Heart, admitted in a recent Thanksgiving Party that while they feel the kilig from the romantic tension between their characters, Maya and Sir Chief, they remain professional about it. Jodi explained, “Honestly, pag binabasa ko talaga ‘yung script, kinikilig talaga ako at pag may mga nakakatawang eksena, nauuna pa akong tumawa sa lahat… so ‘yon.”

On his part, Richard shared that he feels the kilig when he is already watching the actual scenes on TV. “Of course meron (kilig) lalo na pag napapanood na namin ‘yung mga sarili namin sa TV, kasi iba ‘yung pag nagtatrabaho ka, pag nakita mo sa TV… iba talaga ‘yung effect,” he explained.

Jodi said that she and Richard aren’t worried about getting carried away by the roles because they are strictly focused on doing their work well. “Very professional naman kami ni Richard pagdating sa trabaho. Trabaho talaga. Kung ano ang kailangan naming gawin; kung ano ang hinihingi sa amin ng eksena ‘yun ang binibigay namin. Ayaw din naming shortchanged ‘yung work namin.”

Richard agreed with his leading lady and continued that they treat the romantic aspect of their roles as part of another day’s work. He explained, “We do it professionally and like I said, we want to be honest with our viewers, so we want to show them what’s real na kahit hindi kami [sa totoong buhay. We can give them a good show.”

The show has been extended to a second season and has been running for seven months now. However, there are claims that the show might end later than June because the show continues to be supported and grow stronger. Some fans are now concerned that the storyline might lose steam with the extended run.

“Of course, there’s always a danger of doing that pero if we can continue the story without bringing it to the point na magsawa ‘yung tao we would like to do that,” Richard reacted.

Jodi said that although another extension is a possibility, they also do not want to compromise the quality of their program. “Siyempre ayaw naman namin na isipin ng mga tao na parang dahil sa kagustuhang ma-extend ‘yung show, ang ginagawa namin, eh mapahaba ang storya o ipinipilit na lang namin, di ba? We’ll play it by ear kung hanggang saan ang itatakbo ng storya,” said Jodi.
