Rico Blanco just made his TV comeback with May Isang Pangarap
, the afternoon teleserye which premiered last January 21 and also stars Vina Morales and Carmina Villaroel. Rico, who first rose to fame as part of a band then a solo singer, made his acting debut via the now defunct teleserye Imortal
, which starred Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz.
Rico said that he has accomplished more than he has dream of, especially when it comes to his music. However, with the opportunities still coming his way, the singer-turned-actor does not want to waste them. “[If] the blessings will continue to come, I’ll keep on being appreciative.
“Ang plano ko na ever since I came back kung ano ang medyo feel kong gawin, kung ano ang magpapasaya sa akin… ito [acting] gusto kasi ng mom ko [para sa akin], gusto ng dad ko. Masaya ang lola ko, [she’s] always na lang in her room and watching TV the whole time.” Rico said that seeing his family being delighted with him acting, gives him a boost.
As to the possibility of acting for the long haul, Rico replied, “Wala akong long-term master plan. Ngayon talaga as long as I’m not stepping on other people, I’m keeping my word, I’ll do whatever will make me happy.”
Since he previously tried acting via Imortal, Rico was asked if he is now used to the idea of getting less privacy and his personal life getting scrutinized. “Okay naman sa akin, kaya lang nahihiya ako sa production ‘pag ‘yun (personal life) na lang ‘yung nalalagay na ganun imbes na ‘yung show,” he reasoned. “Andami nating napag-usapan tapos ‘yung isang comment lang [ang mailalabas]. But I understand some [reporters] will want to shortcut to doing an article.
“Ako kasi I’m game. Wala naman akong tinatago [or] anything. I’m friends with everyone. Siguro in short na lang, if someone is not part of a project, nakakahiya kasi mag-comment about them. If you respond na medyo friendly, ‘pag lumabas sabihin ginamit mo ang person na wala. ‘Pag flat out na sharp [na] ‘no’ [ang isinagot mo] para walang sasabihin, bastos [o] suplado [ka]. It’s really no win talaga… but I understand,” he said.
