011313-karylle_main.jpgAfter doing the stage adaptation of Rama Hari last year, Karylle said she was happy about doing the epic musical which was also a collaboration with Ballet Philippines. The singer-host said the feedback from both local and foreign audience members was very positive.

Kung dadalhin yung production internationally hindi ko alam. Wala namang ganung balita pero I was just really happy that all the Filipinos came out to support and watch Rama Hari, even the foreigners. Pag may standing ovation nangunguna madalas ang mga foreigner at kahit paglabas namin sa lobby ng CCP ay talagang sumisigaw pa rin sila dahil sa sobrang happy nila. Yun nga sabi nila sana dalhin nga abroad or foreigners should come over and watch it here kasi napakalaki ng production para ilabas. But more than that, kinikilig ako for Ballet Philippines, yung mga staff kasi yung mga nagbebenta ng tickets sinasabi nila sa akin na very pleased sila dahil sabi ng mga usher parang Phantom of the Opera yung dami ng tao kasi hanggang mga balcony. So thank you sa lahat ng sumuporta at nanuod ng Rama Hari kasi it means a lot to Filipino artists who come out with original work by Bienvenido Lumbrera, Mr. C (Ryan Cayabyab), Ms. Alice Reyes of Ballet Philippines at mahirap talaga pero susuportahan namin dahil maganda po,” she said.

The Showtime host said she enjoyed rehearsals for Rama Hari and going to the local auditions for Miss Saigon as well. “Actually one of the reasons why I also did audition was nanumbalik yung love ko for theater. As a theater artist, you have to know that it is part of it. It’s just really sad that the media portrays it as such, that it has to be something to be ashamed of. A lot of people didn’t even go on the second day of callbacks because of the way media portrayed it. And it’s sad but you have to be tough,” she admitted.

Karylle also weighed in on what 2012 had in store for her. “Madami masyadong best moments eh. But I guess it was the family getting together for my mom (after the death of Dolphy). It’s different kasi pag ganun eh, yung pag may pagsubok tapos sasama-sama sila lahat. Iba yung love na nararamdaman mo,” she admitted.

When it comes to love, Karylle said family is the most important for her. “The best lesson about love for me? Siguro that yung love for family is just so strong, yung lahat ng barriers kunwari, layo dahil yung mga pamilya ni Mama nasa States, nawawala lahat ng barriers na yun. There is no problem too big na hindi malalagpasan dahil sa sobrang intense at lakas ng pagmamahal ng isang pamilya,” she added.

During the holidays, Karylle said she stayed in the country with her dad. “Gift ko na sa sarili ko yung day off. Like nung Sunday na first day off ko nung December, nagkaroon ako ng days off para magsulat ng kanta, ganyan. Ang tagal ko na kasing hindi nagagawa yun para sa sarili ko, siyempre kailangan mo din ng quiet time,” she said.

When it comes to what gifts she received from Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon, Karylle said they are not like other celebrity couples who divulge what kind of gifts they give each other. “Wala naman. Hindi naman ako corny para i-share ko pa yan. Tapos na ako dun nung teenybopper,” she said.
