After returning to the country to her regular shows Showtime and ASAP Rocks, Karylle said she has finally settled back into local showbiz. The singer-actress was gone for four months to undergo training and shooting for the international musical series The Kitchen Musical which was shot entirely in Singapore.
While she was there, Karylle admitted it took a while to settle into a new environment but eventually she was able to adapt by doing her regular routine like running, even joining the 2011 Safra Singapore Bay Run last September.
Karylle said she also enjoyed the anonymity while she was abroad. “Of course I run a lot here and when I went there, I would run alone. I would meet a lot of Filipinos, minsan may nag-aalok ng ice cream, ganyan. Ang dami kong nami-meet and it’s just nice to be able to do that there. Kasi dito natatakot naman ako na tumakbo tapos I have my coach and everyone so doon kaya ko mag-isa. Sobrang excited ako dun sa run kasi it was my first run out of the country. Iba din yung feeling. I kept jumping up and down the bridge nung dumating ako dun. At saka yung iba naka-belo pa, yung mga babae dun. hindi ko alam kung paano nila ginagawa, it’s so warm pero talagang it’s a challenge for them but ang galing,” she shared.
The 30-year-old actress admitted that it also helped that her friends and loved ones also paid her a visit during her stay in Singapore, a group which included her rumored boyfriend Yael Yuzon. Although Karylle has never admitted to the relationship, she has never denied anything either. “Well okay naman siya, okay din naman ako (laughs). Actually it was my sister, my grandma, and him who visited me along with my friends from Magic and from RX. They were a group of about 10 or 12 so nakapag-Universal Studios kami,” she shared during The Kitchen Musical mall show held last November 6 at Market! Market!
Karylle also admitted it was not easy to keep in constant communication with the Sponge Cola vocalist. “For me kasi it’s hard to have load when you’re in Singapore kasi it’s a common OFW problem na mauubusan ka talaga ng load,” she explained.
The pretty Showtime host also demurred from answering what Yael’s impression of her work in The Kitchen Musical was. In the series, Karylle plays the role of Maddie Avilon, an idealistic and opinionated woman who wants to prove her worth in the kitchen in her father’s restaurant. “Siyempre I won’t speak for someone who can speak for themselves. Tingin ko gusto naman niya. Some people kasi, when it comes to TV and Film, they have a lot to say and he’s that kind of person. If you ask him I’m sure he’ll have a lot to say but hindi ko mame-memorize kasi hindi kaya ng brain cells ko yung speed ng thoughts niya,” she admitted.
While abroad, Karylle admits she did miss a lot of things in the Philippines and also realized a lot of things after seeing them from a new perspective. “Siyempre na-miss ko yung Showtime talaga and everyday I would get tweets saying they miss me. Sabi ko nakakanis naman kasi parang nakakalungkot. Na-appreciate ko yung time and TFC and the tours that we do because I used to do TFC tours and I couldn’t understand what the big deal was, why were they so excited to see us. Now I really understand na it’s the connection mo with your community,” she says.
