Currently part of the cast if the popular teen-oriented show Growing Up, Daniel Padilla says he is enjoying playing the part of Patrick Rivero, the resident bad boy in the show. “Madami pang dapat abangan sa storya, like kung liligawan ko ba si Kathryn dun or baka mapunta pa ako sa ibang babae,” he shares with Push.com.ph. The 16-year-old actor, who first joined the lime light last year when he became part of the show Gimik 2010, admits that he has fun on the set of his current show. “Ngayon masaya kami sa Growing Up, kasi ang story hindi siya mabigat, light na light lang so parang barkadahan lang,” he adds.
When asked what qualities he sees in on-screen love team partner Kathryn, Daniel admits that his leading lady has a lot of attractive attributes. “Siyempre mabait siya at maganda. Lagi lang siyang masaya. Walang dull moments kami. Kung mag usap kami, barkadang-barkada, Masaya lang kami,” he says. Even off the set, the two teens also spend time together with the rest of their cast mates in Growing Up like Julia Montes and Diego Loyzaga. “We hang out rin sa labas, minsan nag-le-laser tag, nagdi-dinner. Minsan kumpleto minsan kami-kami lang din,” he says.
The young actor, who is the son of Robin Padilla’s brother Rommel and former actress Karla Estrada, admits he is single at the moment although he had already been in three previous relationships. Daniel shares what qualities he looks for in his ideal girl. “Gusto ko yung morena talaga eh. Morena, mabait, siyempre matalino, sweet,” he says. When asked why those qualities all seem to embody Kathryn, the teen heartthrob shyly says, “Hindi ah, sinasabi ko lang na ‘yun ang gusto ko, ayun.” Daniel admits he is just happy and blessed right now to be able to work with someone as good an actress as Kathryn. “Siyempre natutuwa naman ako kasi si Kath magaling rin na artista at saka sobrang kumportable akong katrabaho siya,”
Daniel also shares that he is now more serious about pursuing a career in showbiz now that he has been getting choice projects. “Kasi nung first medyo ayaw ko, siyempre parang ayaw ko mag-artista kasi bata pa ako gusto ko yung labas-labas. Pero ngayon na-e-enjoy ko na siya at saka naiintindihan ko na kasi yung trabaho ko.”
