After starring in the steamy drama series Precious Hearts Romance Presents: Kristine, Rafael Rosell now plays the role of the meek and introspective Bart Ramirez in the new Primetime series 100 Days to Heaven. “Ako si Bart, kapatid ni Bobby Ramirez dito sa show. Pareho kaming nagtratrabaho sa kompanya ni Anna Manalastas na sobrang striktong boss namin,” he told Push.com.ph. The 28-year-old actor admitted he can relate to his onscreen character when it comes to certain aspects in life. “Medyo under ako sa kapatid ko dito, who is portrayed by Dominic Ochoa. I can relate to my character kasi there are moments in our lives na may tao talaga na nagpu-push sa ‘yo kahit ayaw mong gawin, pinagsasabihan ka and although gusto mo lumaban, you still choose not to, so nagiging parang suppressed yung emotions mo. In terms of that, we all have that sa buhay natin eh. So yun, nakaka-relate ako kay Bart in that sense,” he explained.
While his role in 100 Days to Heaven is more wholesome than his previous roles, the hunky actor said this does not mean he is veering away from doing sexy roles in the future. “I think this is one of the tamest roles I’ve ever played and I’m really enjoying it. Hindi naman masyado image change kasi ako naman, kung anong role ibigay sa akin tapos kung meaningful naman, lalo na ito kaya ko tinanggap itong show kasi ang daming moral values na tinuturo kaya I accepted it straight away. Tapos whether it’s an image change or not, it really depends sa role na pino-portray ko. So wala naman masyadong conscious effort to change my image talaga,” he stressed.
In this series, Rafael also gets to work with other TV veterans and newbies, like Coney Reyes, Smokey Manaloto, Jodi Sta.Maria, Valerie Concepcion, and Xyriel Manabat. In the show, Anna Manalastas (played by Coney) is an unforgiving boss who when she meets an untimely demise, she is given one more chance to return to earth for 100 days to correct all the wrongs she has done to the people around her. But this time, she is sent back in the form of a seven-year-old girl (played by Xyriel).
Rafael admitted that he was very happy to be offered a chance to be part of a meaningful project like 100 Days to Heaven. “I feel like it’s a big blessing para sa akin in terms of spirituality dahil the show deals a lot with that, being nice to people and the karma. So para sa akin, coming from a show like Kristine, it’s a big step dahil from a sexy or adult-oriented role to a family show, para sa akin it’s an honor to be part of that,” he told Push.com.ph.
Also busy doing out-of-town mall shows, Rafael revealed that he has started exploring more of his musical side lately. “I’ve been plucking on the guitar for a little bit. I want to buy a K-hon, dinownload ko kasi yung application na parang drum set so parang gusto ko rin ng konting instruments sa bahay for the positive vibes. I’m exploring my musical side naman dahil I haven’t really been too musical growing up, parang ngayon ini-introduce ko yun sa buhay ko para maging mas masaya and mas marinig ko yung tunes and just basically be more musically inclined. Since I love the beach so much I like listening to reggae. I like practicing mostly reggae and alternative songs,” he said.
Rafael admitted he has also been enjoying taking a break from dating so he can focus on career and his personal growth. “I don’t have any special someone. I took a year off from the love life and the love scene. I’m just focusing on myself and God a
